Most likely not killing. Unless they're a special division, unit or they volunteer the chances are slim that a BW soldier will actually see the frontlines. Even a major part of the working forces in war zones don't necessarily do the fighting. Even the tunnel clearance OPs have mostly either been given to the Military Police in conjunction with the KSK or PzH 2000s - at least afaik. (forces in major war zones will most likely also retreat in the next 1~3 years)
In the German army, the green barret signifies that he is either a member of the Mechanized Infantry or the Rifles Corps. In this case is signifies the Rifle Corps given the emblem he is wearing, the three golden oak leaves of the Jägertruppe, or the German equivalent of your "Rangers".
This is a very inspiring, lovely, and touching photo!!! it helps remind us of the men and women (like your brother) who bravely serve our country against those who would do us harm. You know, statistics say that around 1% of the citizens of this country go into uniformed service, and I must say it is an honor and a privilage that I know people from that 1%-both active and retired. Veterans, God bless you always, we thank you for your service, sacrifice, and selflessness. Soldiers, God bless you and keep you always, so that you may make your country proud and return to your loved ones safely and soundly. God bless those people who chose to be a part of that 1%, because they are the reason that we are one of the greatest, brightest, and most free countries on the planet. God bless America. Thank you for posting this-it's really inspiring to me (especially because I myself want to join the military.) Congrajulations on the DD; it's obvious that you deserve it!!!! Happy Veteran's Day; God bless you and your family!!! Tell your brother that I said thank you, please!!!
XD Since i'm gonna join the military when I'm older, I just might be able to do that!!! XD Still, I think Germany's a really awesome country; I hope I get to see it one day thanks for sharing and replying to my comment! Happy Veteran's Day; tell a soldier or two over there that I said thank you for serving your country!
